Shared Services Connected Ltd will support the delivery of the Children’s Funeral Fund for England as part of a new law launched on Tuesday 23rd July.
Bereaved parents can find themselves facing significant funeral costs but the Children’s Funeral Fund (CFF) means that grieving families no longer face the stress of meeting burial or cremation fees, following the loss of their loved one through death or stillbirth.
The CFF is also known as Martin’s Fund after Swansea East MP Carolyn Harris campaigned for the fund to be introduced after the tragic death of her own son Martin.
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) worked alongside bereaved families, industry representatives, charities, campaigners and MPs to set up the fund providing practical support and also contribute towards the price of a coffin.
From 28th July, we will support the delivery of the fund for England. We will provide case workers, call handling services and will manage a payment service releasing funds directly to cremation and burial authorities, funeral directors and if necessary, directly to the bereaved family.
Jeanette Smith, Managing Director, Shared Services Connected Ltd said: “It is a respectful privilege for us to be able to support the UK Government with such an important and supportive service for bereaved parents of young children. Myself and the team are committed to supporting parents and families that are going through this deeply traumatic time.”
“I would like to personally thank Carolyn Harris for her determined and successful campaign.”
